    Return to Service and Preservation

A Return to Service program is the reverse process of preservation, which reactivates an aircraft and ensures it meets all airworthiness standards before it can fly again.

and Preservation Services

These programs ensure that an aircraft's value and airworthiness are maintained while it's inactive,
allowing it to be safely and efficiently brought back into flight when needed.

Aircraft Preservation and Storage

Aircraft preservation is a set of maintenance procedures and protocols performed on an aircraft when it's not in active use. The goal is to protect its systems, structure, and components from deterioration due to inactivity, corrosion, and environmental factors. The level of preservation depends on the expected duration of inactivity.

Short-Term Preservation (Parking):
For aircraft expected to be grounded for a few weeks to several months. This involves basic tasks like covering inlets and pitot tubes, moving the aircraft to prevent tire flat-spotting, and performing periodic engine runs and system checks to keep everything lubricated and functional.

Short-Term Preservation (Parking):

For aircraft grounded for a few weeks to several months, we perform basic tasks like covering inlets and pitot tubes and performing periodic engine runs to keep systems functional.

Long-Term Preservation (Storage):

For aircraft stored for an extended period, we conduct a much more extensive process. This includes "pickling" engines with special preservative oil, sealing all openings, and moving the aircraft to a low-humidity climate to prevent corrosion.

Long-Term Preservation (Storage):
For aircraft out of service for several months or years. This is a much more extensive process. It often involves removing critical components like batteries and avionics for storage in a climate-controlled environment. The engines are "pickled" with a special preservative oil and sealed to prevent corrosion, and the aircraft is often moved to a dry, low-humidity climate like the desert.

Return to Service (RTS) Programs

A Return to Service program is the reverse process of preservation, which reactivates an aircraft and ensures it meets all airworthiness standards before it can fly again. This is a critical process that must be performed by certified maintenance personnel and is heavily regulated by aviation authorities like the FAA and EASA.

De-preservation:
All of the protective covers, seals, and tags applied during preservation are removed. This includes the preservative fluids from the engines and fuel systems.

Inspections and Maintenance

The aircraft undergoes a series of thorough inspections and maintenance checks. This includes examining the airframe for corrosion, testing all flight controls and systems, and reinstalling and testing all previously removed components.

Documentation

All work performed, including the preservation and de-preservation tasks, is meticulously documented in the aircraft's logbook. A certified mechanic or authorized person must then sign a Certificate of Release to Service, which legally declares the aircraft airworthy and ready for flight.

The duration of an RTS program can vary greatly depending on how long the aircraft was preserved. An aircraft in short-term parking might take a few days to be ready, while one in long-term storage can require a full C-Check or even D-Check, taking weeks or months to complete.
